Price is located in the east central part of the state of Utah, approximately 70 miles from the Wasatch Front (Provo/Orem and Salt Lake City areas). Price, the county seat of Carbon County, has a population of approximately 10,000 with a county population just over 20,000.
Price, Helper and Wellington serve our rural area with several resources making this a great community to live in. The area has our own Hospital and Surgical Center. Price has a strong retail base (K-Mart, Wal-Mart, two strip malls, etc.). We are also very proud of Utah State University Eastern(Previously the College of Eastern Utah), Utah's only comprehensive regional college. Our crime rate is low and our residents enjoy the peace and safety of a great community.
Our local Prehistoric Museum is one of the best in the Western United States. It is sponsored by Utah State University Eastern and displays a number of impressive dinosaur artifacts, many of which were found in our local area. Helper also has the Western Mining and Railroad Museum. Much of our mining and railroad history is on display there.
Located in a high desert, Price has a semi-arid climate with low humidity and unusually mild winters. Our summers bring days of clear blue skies, clean air and sunshine that is matched by very few parts of the state. One of the great strengths of the area is the vast number of recreational activities. Whatever your outdoor passions - backpacking, biking, water sports, hiking, biking, rafting, fishing (both stream and lake), historical sight-seeing - are all close at hand. If you want to try something new, just go a different direction out of town and you’ll find more things to do.
It doesn’t matter what your likes or interests, Price and all of the amenities of our area will satisfy both the curious and adventurous.
